When it comes to pleasure, does it always have to be a guilty one? No it does not have to be a guilty pleasure, but most of the time, we pleasure ourselves through what is most comforting: food. Food is a pleasure for the mouth first, and then a pleasure for the soul and mind. But most of the time, it’s a bad pleasure, and it leaves us guilty.
It’s a bad pleasure because usually the food we eat to get pleasure is quite bad for us, and we don’t think about it when we eat it. But when we think about it later, we regret it, and then we feel guilty that we ate it. Usually, people eat many bad things to get pleasure because they’re either very unhappy, have a high tolerance for an abundance of unhealthy food, or are sadly, over-weight. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a chocolate bar here and there. It just means take what you normally eat for pleasure, and cut it in half to cancel out the feeling of guilt that would occur later after eating it.
If you want to eat a lot of a pleasure food and not feel guilty later, try fruits which are normally sweet like bananas, cantaloupe, apples, or even a fruit salad may do, which consists of a mixture of many fruits in the size of squares usually. Not only will you be getting your daily vitamins, but you’ll also feel better and have more energy compared to as if you were to eat unhealthy foods to please yourself. Doesn’t that sound much better?
If you don’t want to choose between fruit and a chocolate bar, have them both. Just exercise after because not only will you have the energy, but you’ll also get pleasure from working off the sugars and carbohydrates. What really makes a guilty pleasure is even an action that may leave you guilty later, and wish you would have never participated in it. Yes, it could also be physical and does not always have to revolve around food.
Even though there are many pleasures out in the world, food makes up the majority of it, especially for Americans because they are the most over-weight country in the entire world. So think before you act or eat, and you won’t be left guilty in the future. It’s that simple, isn’t it? The answer: yes.
